Shaker Kitchen Introduction:

When it comes to timeless kitchen designs, Shaker kitchens stand out for their blend of classic elegance and practical functionality. In this project, we took a dated, disconnected kitchen and dining area and transformed it into a spacious, light-filled, open-plan Shaker kitchen that meets both traditional and contemporary needs.

From Dark and Cramped to Light and Open: The Vision

Custom Shaker kitchen design with frosted glass wall units, large range cooker, and bespoke cabinetry for concealed storage.

Our clients sought to merge their small kitchen with an adjoining dining room to create one expansive, airy space. The primary goal? To flood the new kitchen with natural light and integrate a large, functional island that would become the heart of their home. By connecting these two rooms, we were able to fulfill their vision and provide a stylish yet practical Shaker kitchen.

The Design Challenge: Blending Traditional and Contemporary Styles

The key challenge was combining the old kitchen—characterized by limited light—with a more open dining area featuring a large orangery. Once connected, these spaces allowed for ample light and a free-flowing layout that was perfect for the classic Shaker design.

Our clients chose a Farrow & Ball color palette, featuring “Stiffkey Blue” and “Wimborne White,” for a beautiful, painted in-frame Shaker style. The country-style feel was enhanced by a biscuit-colored Silestone worktop, while contemporary elements like brushed aluminum plinths subtly tied the kitchen design to the rest of the modernized home.

Custom Features for a Tailored Finish

This bespoke Shaker kitchen included custom features designed for both style and convenience. Highlights include:

  • A spice and jar worktop pantry for organized cooking.
  • A built-in wine fridge.
  • Frosted glass wall units.
  • A bespoke chimney to house the extractor above the large range cooker.
  • Integrated appliances, including a full fridge and freezer housed in in-frame Shaker cabinetry.

Achieving Quiet Elegance with Subtle Details

The kitchen’s design focused on understated luxury. While the overall aesthetic is classically Shaker, modern touches—like concealed appliances and sleek brushed aluminum accents—lend a subtle, elegant feel to the space. The end result is a kitchen that’s as stylish as it is functional.

Client Satisfaction: A Seamless Process

Our unique client portal kept the homeowners updated throughout every stage of the project, from build timelines to real-time snagging updates. On completion, the clients were thrilled, leaving our team a heartfelt note of thanks for the attention to detail and seamless project management.

In Conclusion:
